UPDATE: Classes & Remote Work Canceled Tues., Jan. 21; Remote Activities Continue Wed., Jan 22
Jan. 19, 2025 I 7:00 p.m.
All classes, cadet and non-essential campus operations are canceled for Tuesday, Jan. 21. Remote classes and campus operations will continue as planned for Wednesday, Jan. 22, unless directed otherwise. All additional information from this afternoon’s update is below and remains unchanged at this time.
Additional details and adjustments to campus services will be communicated via university email and available online. Students, faculty or staff who anticipate or experience difficulties learning, instructing or working remotely should contact their respective faculty member, department head or supervisor for instructions.

CAMPUS UPDATES & INFORMATION
The latest university information and updates will be available via university email, Texas A&M University at Galveston social media channels (@aggiesbythesea) and the Galveston Campus mobile app (available for download on the App Store and Google Play). Any on-campus impacts requiring immediate action will be communicated via the Sea Aggie Alert system. Enrollment in the Sea Aggie Alert notification system is available on the Texas A&M at Galveston Safety website.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Students
- Dining services will be available at Captain’s Landing with modified hours, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday and Wednesday. Individual meals are available for purchase for those not on a meal plan.
- On-campus activities are canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Campus recreation facility hours will be communicated via AggNews email and Campus Rec App (available via AppStore and Google Play).
- The library will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday
- Cadet operations are suspended for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Faculty
- All classes have been moved to remote instruction for Wednesday.
- Faculty should check their university email for additional information and resources regarding remote instruction.
Staff
- Only essential staff should be on campus on Tuesday and Wednesday. Non-essential staff should work remotely. Please contact your supervisor if you are unsure of your status.
Technology Services
- Technology Services will be available to assist with technical issues on Tuesday and Wednesday. Support can be requested either by contacting helpdesk@tamug.edu or calling 409-740-4714.
Winter Weather Preparation
Winter storms can bring extreme conditions and cause disruptions to power, communications, heat and transportation. We ask that students, faculty and staff take precautions to minimize these impacts:
- Take supplies and equipment needed for the potential of remote classes, academic or business operations, including computers, course materials, etc.
- Monitor local weather broadcasts and conditions.
- Ensure you and your pets have food and water available in case of power outages.
- Keep warm clothing and blankets on hand.
- Locate flashlights, extra batteries and portable phone chargers in case of power outages.
- Stay indoors and minimize travel. If you do travel, please check local driving conditions before departing. Impacts to roadways or changes in travel conditions are available on the Texas Department of Transportation at drivetexas.org or by calling toll-free at 800.452.9292.
